Information Ministry closes or suspends operation of 26 sites
This was reported by Minister of Information Lilia Ananich.
Twenty six websites have been closed or temporarily suspended since the beginning of the year. This figure was made public by the Information Minister Lilia Ananich, BelTA reports.
She recalled that the new law on the media, which had been in force from 1 January 2015, introduced the liability of Internet outlets for the distributed information.
The reason for the closure of sites, said Ananich, were the instances of drug-related information, improper advertising of medicines, the use of profanity. "Internet space today is listening to the requirements of the legislation, but it is too early to say that the media law is carried out in full by all the outlets," said the official.
According to Ananich, the fact that every decision of the Information Ministry is actively discussed in the forums and in social networks shows that society is not indifferent to the existing processes.
