Japan imposes sanctions on DPR and LPR activists
People and organizations connected with the elections in the self-declared republics have been blacklisted.
Japan has imposed sanctions on 26 people and 14 organizations connected with the recent elections in the self-declared ‘Donetsk People’s Republic’ and ‘Lugansk People’s Republic’. Their accounts and assets will be frozen in Japan, RIA Novosti reports.
Japan imposed several packs of sanctions on Russia in response to its actions in Ukraine earlier. The procedure of ammunition export, military technologies and distribution of some Russian banks’ equities in the Japanese market became stricter. The Japanese authorities blacklisted 23 Russian officials. 40 Crimean officials, the leaders of the so-called ‘DPR’ and ‘LPR’ were also put on the black list later. Japan forbade the import of Crimean goods.
The sanctions will not affect the Russian President’s visit to Tokyo, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga claimed.
