Journalist fined for covering Svetlana Alexievich’s meeting with ex-classmates

Petrykau District Court (Homel Region) awarded a BYN690 fine for independent journalist Larysa Shchyrakova . She made a report for the TV channel Belsat. The journalist covered the meeting of Nobel Prize laureate Svetlana Alexievich with her ex-classmates in Kapatkevichy.

Shchyrakova was punished for ‘illegal production of information materials for a foreign unaccredited media organization.' This year alone, the journalist has received 7 fines totalling BYN 4776 (2350 euros), Radio Svaboda reports.
