Journalist Syamashka sacked from Sputnik for interview with Radio Liberty
Journalist Vasil Syamashka has lost his job in the Belarusian affiliate of the Russian Internet edition Sputnik. It happened after the Belarusian journalist had given an interview to Radio Liberty about his trip with a humanitarian aid convoy to Donets Basin.
"There was no interdiction to give interviews in my contract. The information I shared in the interview was not false, I did not reveal any secrets and I did not insult anyone. They explained my dismissal by the fact that the name ‘Sputnik’ has been mentioned by Radio Liberty. I am looking for a job now,” the journalist told Radio Liberty.
Syamashka was a non-staff correspondent, head of Minsk editorial office of Sputnik Andrei Kachura claimed.
