KGB does not comment on information about Kanaplyou's arrest

However, the law-enforcement agencies do not comment on this information, precisely, such was the response received by Interfax-West journalists in the KGB press-office. Representatives of the Investigatory Committee say they have no criminal case against Uladzimir Kanaplyou at their disposal now.
 

Uladzimir Kanaplyou is 49. In 1991-1994 he was an assistant to MP Alyaksandr Lukashenka, and then became assistant tot he state leader. In 2004-2007 Kanaplyou was a speaker of the House of Representatives in Belarus. Recently, he headed the Belarusian Handball Federation, was a Vice-President of the National Olympics Committee.

According to Pressball, Henadz Alyakseenka is also arrested. In the past, he used to be the state leader's assistant on the issues of physical culture, sports and development of tourism. He worked at this position for about 6 years (till the beginning of 2010). Later, Alyakseenka worked as a director of the Republican Center of Olympic Track-and-Field Preparation.
