Domracheva resigned from service almost 2 years ago - KGB
The biathlon Olympic champion Darya Domracheva resigned from the KGB almost two years ago, according to the statement by the head of the KGB press service Dzmitry Pabyarzhyn on May 4.
"Domracheva was in the KGB service until June 2014, but currrently Darya is an employee of the organization," said Pabyarzhyn. The KGB did not report on the reason for her leaving the position as well as other details of the service.
The information that Domracheva worked for the KGB appeared on the site of the Dynama sporting club, of which the famous biathlete was a member. The biography of the athlete on the website said: "She served in the Belarus KGB in the rank of a senior lieutenant." After some time the data was erased.
The KGB press service explained that the information was removed because it was out of date "and Domracheva is no longer a member of the KGB SC."
When asked whether any of the other well-known Belarusian athletes were agency staff, Dzmitry Pabyarzhyn said: "Unfortunately, we can not release information of this kind," BelaPAN reports.
