Kupchyna: EU working on new stand on visas for Belarusians
This is what the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus told reporters on March 3.
Bilateral consultations between the Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Italy - Alena Kupchyna and Benedetto Della Vedova took place in Minsk.
Based on their results, Kupchyna confirmed that consultations will be held on March 10-11 between Belarus and the EU on visa facilitation. The Belarusian side will be represented by the head of the main consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ihar Fisenka, as well as the head of the Migration Service Alyaksei Byagun. The parties will consider two agreements - on visa liberalization and readmission.
Kupchyna added: "It was then that the new negotiation position of Europeans regarding these issues will be considered in the framework of the European Union. We are also now discussing our negotiating position. We hope that in the course of these consultations we will be able to make significant progress."
According to her, the official Minsk is waiting for "positive developments on the European side regarding a number of serious issues". Kupchyna did not rule out that it will be possible to initial these two important agreements before the Riga summit of the Eastern Partnership.
