Kyky moves to new domain - kyky.io
The editors are set to go to social media to dodge blocking.
The website kyky.org has appeared on the new domain - it is now called kyky.io.
Euroradio reported earlier that on June 18 the Ministry of Information had restricted access to the site kyky.org. The grounds for the restrictions became some materials dedicated to Victory Day: officials believe that the authors of the materials disputed "the significance of this event in the history of the state" and thus "distort historical truth about the Great Patriotic War."
In the afternoon of June 18, some providers started blocking access to the site.
In a statement about this issue, editorial board of the kyky.io said: "We believe that the views of our writers cannot harm the interests of Belarus. KYKY.org is a site of various opinions, different opinions. Until yesterday, we were not able to do anything, but write normal texts. We sometimes had the courage to ask people uncomfortable questions. Yes, we accept the circumstances, because we cannot resist them.
But there are things that you continue to do in spite of everything. If you cut off your right foot, you take a crutch and limp on the left one.
Journalists of the Kyky noted that outside Belarus they can still be read. Also, the materials will be made available through Tor, Opera Turbo, proxy and anonymizer.
In addition, on the evening of 18 June, representatives of the editorial board were told that they would remove from the site materials that caused displeasure of the Information Ministry officials.
