Lavrov: Nothing extraordinary in Belarus suit against Russia

Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov sees nothing extraordinary in Belarus having filed a suit against Russia with the CIS Commercial Court, REGNUM news agency reports quoting Lavrov as saying on March 26. According to Lavrov, he did not discuss this issue with Belarusian counterpart Sergei Martynov during the meeting of the foreing ministers from the regional security organization member states on March 25 in Moscow. He said this is beyond the competence of foreign ministries. Lavrov aalso noted that the issue over oil export duty was exclusively commercial, not political.

On March 25, Belarus filed a suit against Russia with the CIS Commercial Court. In the view of the official Minsk, export duties on oil that is shipped to Belarus is illegitimate, because the two countries are members of the Customs Union.
