LDP offers 'Tell the Truth' to take part in parliamentary elections together
The Liberal Democratic Party has turned to the campaign 'Tell the Truth' with an offer to prepare together for parliamentary elections in 2016.
"We are ready to discuss the candidates from the campaign 'Tell the Truth' and the Liberal Democratic Party and withdraw candidates in the general interest. This is to ensure that each district has a candidate from the government and a candidate of the moderate opposition. And it's an offer we do today, as we need to prepare for the parliamentary elections today, not tomorrow or the day after," said the first deputy chairman of the LDP Aleh Haydukevich in his commentary to Radio Liberty.
He added that the LDP has made a proposal on cooperation only to the moderate opposition, not the so-called 'radical' opposition.
However, the campaign 'Tell the Truth' has not agreed to cooperate with the LDP. Head of the campaign, Andrei Dzmitryieu, said he did not think the LDP to be a democratic organization. "We are convinced that during the presidential election Siarhei Haydukevich worked in the team of Aliaksandr Lukashenka. Therefore, we see no grounds for joint actions during the parliamentary election campaign," he said.
