Lukashenka approves plan to use Belarus-Russia troops

The new plan for the use of regional troops of Belarus and Russia in the next five years has been endorsed by Aliaksandr Lukashenka. The document will be reviewed at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State.

The plan for the next five years was presented to the Head of State by Defense Minister Andrei Raukou, BelTA reports. It is expected that the plan will take effect on January next year.

During the presentation of the document Lukashenka asked how it covers the new trends and changes in the situation around Belarus. According to the President, the question should be viewed in the context of relations in the former Soviet Union, as well as the development of the situation in neighboring countries. In particular, Lukashenka noted that one can not ignore the situation in Ukraine and the flow of illegal immigrants. He also drew attention to the strengthening of NATO forces.

Lukashenka was assured that all these factors were taken into account. In addition, he became acquainted with the interests and approaches of Belarus in the organization, construction and application of the regional grouping. Lukashenka was also told about the prospective changes to the new plan planned by Russia.
