Lukashenka: Europe did not initiate sanctions
According to the President, the EU itself is suffering from the influence of other center of power.
On November 20, Alyaksandr Lukashenka made a number of statements during the opening ceremony of the Swiss company Stadler plant in Fanipol (Dzerzhinsky district of Minsk region).
In particular, he said that sanctions are an anachronism. According to Lukashenka, "it was not Europe" that initiated sanctions. "The EU is in a lot of suffering, but it is too dependent on other centre of power," BelaPAN quoted opinion of the President.
Moreover, Lukashenka believes that the sanctions do not affect the relations between the European Union, the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEC) and Russia. He says that many European businessmen, including the owner of the company Stadler, Peter Shpuler, did not support the sanctions, because sanctions "do harm to both the Europeans and the Russians".
According to Lukashenka, the sanctions will end sooner or later. "Whatever the sanctions, the people on the other side, and here, in the East, are much smarter than those who impose these sanctions. And they will find ways around them and ways of cooperation in all areas," says the Belarusian leader.
