Lukashenka: I am not divorced but I have a son from another woman
Mikalai Lukashenka’s mother can only see him on TV.
American political scientist, Redford University professor Grigory Ioffe published his book Reassessing Lukashenka: Belarus in Cultural and Geopolitical Context in the United States last year. The book consists of Ioffe’s conversations with Alyaksandr Lukashenka. Radio Liberty has translated some of them.
In particular, the Belarusian leader said that he was still married to Halina Radzivonauna but had a son form another woman. “Everyone wonders why my wife behaves this way. She is a clever person. She could start writing to newspapers and demand something from me but what would it change? People would just laugh and rub their hands. She is a normal person,” Alyaksandr Lukashenka said.
He is bringing up his youngest son Mikalai on his own, the Belarusian leader sad. His own mother ‘can see him on TV as often as everyone else can’. His youngest son has never gone to bed and woken up without him, Lukashenka noted.
