Lukashenka meets KGB chief to discuss world around Belarus
Belarus President Aliaksandr Lukashenka met KGB Chairman Valery Vakulchyk two days after the failed coup attempt in Turkey, according to Belarus President's Official Website.
“The situation around Belarus cannot but worry me. Thank God, we have managed to deter all negative effects. We can see when some issues emerge everywhere. What is happening around us, in Ukraine, in Turkey, Armenia, Kazakhstan as well as the recent moves by NATO [makes it clear] that the situation is very difficult. But whatever it costs us, peace and order should be preserved in our country," said Lukashenka.
During the meeting, they also discussed the ongoing criminal investigations into high-profile cases. In this regard, Lukashenka stressed: "There should be no place for a sluggish procedure here."
