Lukashenka: not to be 'local', you need to know the language and history
On Tuesday, January 20, the head of state spoke at the 42nd Congress of the public association Belarusian Republican Youth Union.
On January 20, Alyaksandr Lukashenka spoke at the 42nd Congress of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union. He said that he considers the youth patriotic groups, which will not allow "foreign forces" to make young people "a blind destructive force" as the underpinning of the state.
Lukashenka disagrees with the opinion that "in today's world there is no place for national cultures, and a global one is coming to replace them". He said that "every nation has its own coordinate system, the vector of development, given its historical experience and national culture." Through their prism, Belarusians perceive the world, take from globalization only something that strengthens the nation, said the head of state.
"Culture is what makes a Belarusian who he is, and not just "a local", wherever he may find himself. Not only our most rich heritage -- literature, music, architecture -- but also the language we need to know, the history we must remember and values that we must respect," BELTA quoted Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
Lukashenka also mentioned the problem of spice. He believes the main task of Belarusian Republican Youth Union is to take young people off the streets and give them useful things to do.
