Lukashenka pardons official accused of corruption
The Belarusian leader has pardoned the former Head of the Department of Education of the Mahiliou city executive committee Yauhen Dupleusky accused of corruption.
In the commentary to the news agency BelaPAN, Head of the Anti-Corruption Department at the Prosecutor's Office of the Mahiliou region Andrei Volkau said that Dupleuski was pardoned already in spring. "This means that he had paid damages of twice or three times the amount," said the employee of the prosecutor's office.
In February 2014, the regional prosecutor's office representative said that the official was prosecuted for embezzlement through abuse of office, committed repeatedly or by a group of persons by prior agreement. According to the investigators, for four academic years (2010-2013) Dupleuski was employed at the school as part-time teacher of extracurricular activities. At the same time, he actually conducted no such classes with students. The school had all the fictitious official records and paid him a salary. According to investigators, the loss of the state amounted to about 22 million rubles.
Dupleuski was facing up to seven years' imprisonment with confiscation of property. The ex-official pleaded guilty to embezzlement and filed a request for clemency with President.
