Lukashenka: Russia's behavior cannot but cause concern
The Belarus president today held the meeting of the Belarus' Security Council to discuss challenges to national security.
On 16 December, Alyaksandr Lukashenka held a meeting of Belarus Security Council. In his speech he said that he is waiting for clarity on Russia's stance towards our country.
"Today's behavior of eastern brother cannot but cause concern, BELTA quoted Lukashenka. But we, including myself, have made no conclusions from this yet, before a meeting with the president of Russia."
Belarusian leader said he wants to know "why there is such a policy of the Russian Federation towards Belarus". He probably meant the restrictions on the import of Belarusian food to Russia introduced in November.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka also spoke about the policies of the West. He said the West was purposefully relying on military force to ensure its geopolitical interests. We a re concerned over the alarming increase in NATO's military capabilities on the western borders of our country, the President stressed. Belarus will not only need to respond, but also "to draw conclusions and take practical steps," said Lukashenka.
