Lukashenka speaks about Belarusian army modernization in Baranavichy
He is going “to check the army’s combat readiness” soon.
The state leader visited the 61st fighter air base on Monday. Alyaksandr Lukashenka was informed about the organization of airborne alerts and the prospects of development of the air defense.
"We are going to check our army’s combat readiness soon,” Interfax-West quotes Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
Modernizing military equipment and machines is possible, Lukashenka thinks. He asked to wait before urging to refuse from Su-27 planes in the army.
"Do we need Su-27, this huge and expensive plane?” Lukashenka said. “We have two dozen of them. I just believe that we should think it over and decide whether we should keep them for some future threat no matter how expensive it may be… Judging by the events in Arab countries, we should not refuse from any military equipment.”
