Lukashenka - Internet regulation should follow Chinese experience
The head of Belarus advocates the creation of a new global mechanism to regulate the Internet.
"We are absolutely convinced that there should not be any national egoism in control over the Internet. This is a very important area to be monitored by international organizations, your organization taking into account the past experience," he said at a meeting with Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union Houlin Zhao according to BELTA.
He added that Belarus is actively developing the information and communication technologies. In recent years, our country has implemented projects such as IPTV, 4G launch as well as our own communications satellite. Internet penetration is almost 70%
Lukashenka also noted the establishment of the so-called e-government. The task is to switch to digital economy based on informatization of all spheres of human life and society as a whole.
The head of state told the Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union that Belarus is ready to cooperate in the development of new communications standards, to fight together with the gray traffic.
According to Lukashenka, the international regulation of the Internet can use the experience of China.
