Lukashenka unhappy with capital outflow from Belarus to 'unfriendly' countries

At a recent meeting on the protection of the Belarusian economy Aliaksandr Lukashenka spoke about the outflow of funds to "unfriendly countries". According to him, it is "a targeted withdrawal of profits outside Belarus". He called on the government to provide "full information on the reasons for such precedents" and said that in this case "barrier measures should be taken with lightning speed and without any hesitation". 

Lukashenka believes that Belarus offers foreign investors "some of the best conditions: preferences, advantages, infrastructure and, of course, competence". In his opinion, it is possible to come and work in the country. But if someone tries to "make a profit" at the expense of the people, "there are mechanisms to counteract and make listen to reason" -- BelTA quoted Lukashenka as saying.

He also criticized the idea of the government to be more flexible in the sale of property and shares in businesses, owned by foreigners from "unfriendly countries". The government banned the sale of these assets after sanctions were imposed against Belarus. Lukashenka believes that the response to sanctions should work in full force, but said that "the state will not shoot itself in the foot". The government proposed to provide for cases when such a sale might be possible. According to Aliaksandr Lukashenka, "it is never possible". But he agreed to listen to the representatives of the Council of Ministers.
