Lukashenka: We need to strengthen southern border (video)
‘Various unnecessary elements not needed in Belarus’ may start coming from Ukraine’, the Belarusian President fears.
Our country needs to strengthen its southern border, Alyaksandr Lukashenka announced at his meeting with deputy state secretary of the Council of Defence Stanislau Zas and Minister of Defence Andrei Raukou. They reported the situation in the Armed Forces and at the southern border to Lukashenka.
There has been a lot to talking about it recently and independent mass media are sometimes biased, Lukashenka said. However, it is still necessary to focus on the strengthening of the Belarusian-Ukrainian border, the President believes.
“We fear that some elements, especially weapons, that are not needed in Belarus may start arriving from Ukraine,” Lukashenka announced.
The optimization of the Armed Forces, creation of new weapons and new types of weapons were also discussed at the meeting. The situation in the Armed Forces is stable, Stanislau Zas said. He noted soldiers’ high morale and the decrease in the outflow of officers, BELTA reports.
