Lukashenka: Work first and then come for pension (video)
The head of state does not rule out an increase in the minimum length of service to get a pension.
On Tuesday, the Belarusian leader held a meeting on the issue of getting non-working citizens into work. Alyaksandr Lukashenka does not rule out the possibility of increasing the minimum length of service necessary to get a pension.
Lukashenka: "First, the minimum length of service to get a pension has been increased from 10 to 15 years. We took this decision and agreed that it is the first step. It may reach not 15, but 20 years. People should work first and then apply for a pension. But currently it is 15 years."
The head of state spoke about the minimum social pension. He said that it is small, but overall billion or trillions of rubles are paid out. Therefore, it is possible, Lukashenka said, that the age to apply for the minimum social pension can be increased. This "will allow to push a pension for those who made no contribution to the economy at all".
