Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makei discussed the optimization in the MFA and the development of foreign economic activities at a meeting in the Office of the President on January 18.
Lukashenka was mainly interested in the results of foreign economic activities, the President’s press service reports. “I am aware of the results but you have more detailed information. And please comment on the diversification of the foreign trade and our embassies’ activities,” the President denoted the main topics on the agenda.
There were positive tendencies in the foreign economic activities in 2017, Makei said. “The export has increased by 23%. Two thirds of the growth was caused by the price increase and one third – by the increase of physical export. That is why it can still be considered a positive tendency,” the Minister concluded.
There is progress in the export diversification but there is still a lot to be done in this sphere, he added.
