Reports: Sloviansk seized over shale gas (video)
Huge deposits of shale gas are behind Russia's advance into the Donetsk Oblast, according to the investigation by Ukrainian TSN journalists.
The journalists suggegst that separatists and Russian diversionists had captured the Ukrainian town of Sloviansk both because of its geographical situation and shale gas deposits. A huge deposit of ‘the most modern energy resource of the XXI century’ is situated in Donetsk and Kharkiv Oblasts, they say.
The deposit may ‘change Ukraine and Europe’s energy system dramatically’, experts reckon. The deposit size is about 33.6 trillion cubic metres which means that Ukraine may become an exporter and will have no need for Russian gas anymore.
