May Day rally in Minsk - in pictures
The unauthorized opposition action ended without detentions.
Around 100 people took part in the unauthorized May Day rally in Minak. The participants - opposition politicians and civil activists - gathered in Kastrycnickaja Square and walked along Independence Avenue to Independence Square in central Minsk. Depiste heavy presence of riot police and security forces, the rally ended without detentions.
The action was proposed by a leader of Belarusian National Congress Mikola Statkevich but he was preventively arrested for 5 days two days before the rally. His wife Maryna Adamovich was present at the action and made a speech on behalf of Mikola Statkevich.
