MFA: No Belarus nationals among detained ISIS fighters in Egypt
There are no citizens of Belarus among the group of ISIS fighters detained by security forces in Egypt, Belarusian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"According to information received from the law-enforcment agencies in Egypt, there are no Belarus nationals among the detainees," reports BELTA quoting the Belarusian foreing policy office.
Media reports suggested earlier that six Islamic State fighters, including a Belarus national as well as citizens of Armenia, Serbia, Iran, Tadjikistan and Egypt, were detained by law-enforcement authorities in Egypt. The country's security forces said the fighters had been prepararing terror attacks on the sites popular with foreign tourists.
Euroradio reported earlier that Belarusian MFA began to verify this information immediately after it had appeared in media reports.
