Mikhalok: I promote creative revolution
The other day, Siarhei Mikhalok came to the capital of Belarus to personally receive from officials permission to hold a Brutto concert. According to rumors, officials in the Minsk City Executive Committee issued a concert certificate to the former "Lapis" in exchange for his promise to perform the song "Rozochka" at the concert, and the musicians apparently agreed. Thus it might well be that on 27 May Brutto fans will hear not only sports and revolutionary songs, but also the old "Liapis" hits.
As Mikhalok admitted in an interview with Radio Liberty, in the five years that he has not performed in Belarus, the revolution of consciousness has occurred not only in Ukraine but also in his homeland. And now is the time for the visit to Belarus particularly with a revolutionary message:
"I want to come to Belarus not to make a revolution in the streets, because it has already happened. Our Misha Zhyzneuski has already sacrificed his life for the revolution on behalf of our people. It seems to me that the revolution of consciousness is now dependent on the creative and active people. And my personal future actions lie with those who realized what had happened, who had this breakdown, catharsis - together with them we will create bridges. Because I believe that the center of this huge space is back to where it was supposed to be."
Mikhalok stands for "permanent creative revolution." At the same time he emphasizes that he is not a provocateur and that the whole militancy of Brutto is antimilitarist.
"I'm as big a patriot as any member of the Komsomol or state youth union from Belarus. What kind of patriotism is it: Ilike birches, chestnut, but not nettles. I am the nettles. I am a punk music. There is series in America called "House of Cards" which clearly and fully shows the entire US system. At the same time, Obama loves this series. There is South Park, and the album "American Idiot" received nine Grammys. I must be a similar Belarusian. The fact that I sometimes say in the heat of passion is my right as a clown, it is my right as a jester. I have never used a penny of public money, I do not belong to any institutions and philharmonics. I have not changed, and I can see that the time has come. And I come with only revolutionary, I stress, creative message, because I see people who are ready to build a new Belarus, without waiting for major disasters. The cataclysms have passed."
In late January, Mikhalok recorded a video message to the Minister of Culture Svyatlou. In it the musician offered to the Minister to prove that there are no banned groups in Belarus by giving Brutto an opportunity to perform at any day and time in Minsk.
