Mikola Statkevich to stand trial today
His case had to be considered on April 28 but the hearing was postponed.
Ex-presidential candidate Mikola Statkevich serving his sentence in colony #17 in Shklou will stand trial today. Statkevich is accused of violating the colony schedule and disobedience to the administration. Thus, he may be sent back to prison.
The politician has already been pronounced at least 13 warnings. 10 of them were pronounced for his refusal to clean the colony territory. According to the law, all prisoners must do it for up to two hours a day. However, this norm was not applied to Statkevich and he considered it to be a legal torture.
Statkevich was imprisoned for 6 years for participation in Suqre-2010. He pled not guilty and refused to ask for Lukashenka’s pardon. The ex-presidential candidate is the last prisoner of Square-2010 who is still behind the bars.
