Culture ministry to start preserving ruins of Belarusian castles next year
Nothing has been said about their restoration yet.
Head of the cultural legacy protection department of the Ministry of Culture Ihar Charnyauski said at a press conference on August 8 that the ruins in Kreva, Navahrudak and Halshany would be preserved, BelaPAN reports.
According to him, it is difficult to work with the objects as the castles are in ruins now. It is not restoration, Charnyauski stressed. “It is necessary to make sure that the walls and constructions are stable,” he noted.
All the work will be done by Belarusian specialists as ‘there are enough good designers, specialists in architecture and restorers in Belarus’, Charnyaski stressed.
