Ministry of Defence confirms murder of Ukrainian officer in Crimea
The major was killed in Novofyodorovka at 11.40 p.m. on April 6, liga.net reports. A junior sergeant of the Russian Navy killed major Stanislav Karachevski with two shots made with an AK-74 in the officer hostel.
One for the bullets got in the Ukrainian officer’s chest and the other – in the head near the eyes. One could hear blasts and shots at the moment of the officer’s death, witnesses said.
The victim’s friend, Ukrainian captain Aleksei Yarmolenko, was severely beaten and arrested by Russian soldiers, some sources report. He was sent to the investigation department of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
A special group of Sakski police department and representatives of the military procurator's office and the Russian Federation Investigation Committee visited the spot.
