Mora: Visas for Belarusians may get cheaper after EU-Belarus talks
The next round of negotiations between Minsk and Brussels to simplify the visa regime is scheduled for early 2015.
Talks between Belarus and the European Union may lead to lower visa prices for Belarusians. This was announced by the head of the EU delegation in our country, Maira Mora, during an interview with BelTA.
She said that in early 2015 there will be another round of talks between Belarus and the EU on visa issues. "Visa facilitation may include lower prices for schengen visas, changes in the requirements for document package, there will be more categories of people exempt from visa fees. In addition, increase in the period of visa validity for people with a good visa history is possible," said Mora.
Head of the EU noted that there arise problems during negotiations, some of them related to the peculiarities of each party's legislation. But they are "gradually solved." Maira Mora said that the results of the negotiations will not be made public prior to an agreement.
The third round of consultations between Belarus and the European Union on visa facilitation and readmission agreements will be held in Minsk in January-February 2015. The second round was held on 24-25 November in Brussels. To date, Belarus is the only country in the Eastern Partnership with citizens paying for a Schengen visa not 35 but 60 euros.
