More foreign currency bought than sold in January

In January, Belarusians bought more foreign currency than they sold. According to statistics of the National Bank, last month physical persons sold 440.71 million US dollars and bought 630.12 million dollars. Net purchase therefore was 189 million dollars.

Legal persons also bought more foreign currency than they sold: they purchased 1 billion 214.81 million and sold 1 billion 16.62 million. Net purchase was 198 million.

Note that the purchase of foreign currency by the population has exceeded the sale since October 2015.
