A new batch of 301-mm multiple rocket launch system Polonez has arrived from Belarus to Azerbaijan, reports Azerbaijani Defense Ministry. The supplies are carried out in accordance with the intergovernmental agreement between Minsk and Baku.
The Belarus-made Polonez can hit ground targets with high precision at the range between 50 and 300 km. Belarus began to supply this cutting-edge artillery system to Azerbaijan in the summer of 2018.
Defense analysts note that Azerbaijan treats Polonez as a counterbalance in the "arms race" with Armenia. In 2016, Yerevan bought from Russia the short-range ballistic missile systems Iskasnder-E, with the firing range of up to 280 km.
