Mova Nanova language course gets state registration
The informal popular group that promotes Belarusian-language courses is granted official registration by the state.
The Minsk City Hall has registered Mova Nanova language course as "a social and cultural institution of the Belarusian language and culture." The certificate was issued on 27 November.
Course instructor Hleb Labadzenka says that "we aspire to that, as the courses are rapidly evolving - and it's important for us to operate legally." According to him, in two months more than 970 student cards were issued in the cities, where the courses are conducted. Registration will allow for them to be held officially. "In the past it was actually a" hobby group"that did not break any regulations and did not harm anyone, but also did not have any status," said Labadzenka.
According to the Mova Nanova statute, it has the right to engage in "adult education", "non-school education and training", to engage in "activities in the field of art", as well as provide training, workshops and seminars to promote the Belarusian language and culture. The statute states that the main task of MovaNanova is "expanding the use of the Belarusian language in everyday life of different groups of people".
The free course of the Belarusian language Mova Nanova began its activities in January 2014 in Minsk. It is now active in 8 cities of Belarus. An additional course for preschool-age children was recently launched in the capital city.g
