NATO troops begin exercise in western Ukraine
About 1300 servicemen from 15 states including the US and other NATO member sates begin military drills not far from Lviv.
The military exercise had been planned before the current crisis in East Ukraine, BBC quotes the Pentagon. About 200 American military men and servicemen from several NATO member states and Eastern European countries are taking part in the exercise called Quick Trident. They are part of the NATO programme Partnership for Peace.
The North Atlantic Alliance announced its intention to create a rapid reaction force at the beginning of September. It may be used in any conflict within two days.
Many NATO member states beware of Russia’s aggression in Eastern Europe.
