New Yorkers protest against ‘police despotism’

Protest actions have been held in New York for two nights on end. The participants are indignant at the court’s decision not to indict a white policeman Daniel Pantaleo for strangling black Eric Garner during the arrest.

1.5 thousand people approached the city police office with posters ‘Racism kills’ and ‘Black lives matter’, BBC reports. Members of the African American community of New York and activists of leftist parties are participating in the protest. They are accusing the police of racist murders.

Garner, the father of six, was arrested for illegal cigarettes trade and resistance to the police several times. He died during the last detention. According to the autopsy results, the 43-year-old man died of suffocation. The U.S. Ministry of Justice is going to investigate Garner’s death.

The protests in Ferguson caused by the court’s decision not indict a white Ferguson police officer, Darren Wilson, for fatally shooting black Michael Brown turned into arsons and bashing last week.
