No special permits needed for WI-FI in public transport
Wi-Fi hotspots in public transport will not need special permissions, BelTA learned from Head of the fixed service and the international protection of radio frequencies "BelGIE" Aliaksei Ivashkin. The decision was taken on April 7 at the meeting of the State Commission for Radio Frequencies under the Security Council. Until now special permits from "BelGIE" enterprise were required.
The State Commission recommended that the Ministry of Communications included this equipment on the list of assets that are not subject to registration and for which you have to obtain permission regarding the radio spectrum. According to Ivashkin, there is only one restriction: the power of the Wi-Fi access point on the railroad, automobile transport, inland waterway, urban electric transport should not exceed 100 milliwatts.
According to the press service of the Communications and Informatization Ministry, changes will be made in the near future in a number of resolutions that establish "a list of radio electronic facilities and high frequency devices, which are not subject to registration and are operated without a permit for the right to use the radio frequency spectrum."
