Nyaklyayeu leaves Tell the Truth campaign
Ex-presidential candidate Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu says he quits because the opposition could not agree on a single candidate for two years.
The leader of the civil campaign Tell the Truth, Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu announced his resignation from opposition structures. In a statement, a 2010 presidential candidate explained it by the failure of the Belarusian opposition to agree on a single candidate for the presidency in 2015.
"In this regard, I declare my withdrawal from the opposition organizations, including the civil campaign Tell the Truth. I will always be grateful to its activists for the work and support. The independence and democratic future of Belarus remain for me the most important values. For this I will work on," BelaPAN reports the politician as saying.
Incidentally, of all the opposition politicians Nyaklyayeu has the highest rating according to recent studies of the Independent Institute of Socio-Economic and Political Studies (Lithuania). His electoral rating was 7.6% in an open poll and 9.4% in the closed one.
Opposition organizations are still unable to agree on the single candidate. And at a meeting of "Seven", on April 8, they failed to reach agreement on holding the Congress of Democratic Forces.
It is Tatstsiana Karatkevich who is the presidential candidate from the Tell the Truth campaign. Her candidacy was supported by the BPF Party.
