Obama: US will not war for Ukraine
Barack Obama has excluded the interference of the USA into the Ukrainian crisis, he told NBC.
"Russia has rudely violated the international legislation. But we are not going to war for Ukraine. There are better solutions and I think that Ukrainians also admit that our war with Russia is unreasonable and will not do any good to Ukraine,” RBK quotes the U.S. President as saying.
The US wants to enhance the diplomatic pressure on Russia to make it refuse from the annexation of Crimea, Obama stressed. Vladimir Putin probably did not think that the USA could interfere in the conflict when he made his strategic decisions, the U.S. President thinks.
If the interests of the US or NATO allies are affected, they will be able “to defend themselves”, the US president stressed.
