Only 11 oppositionists in district electoral commissions
A total of 233 representatives of political parties enter 364 election commissions across Belarus
The majority comes from the Belarusian Communist Party (148 out of 173 candidates) and the Party of Labour and Justice (46 out of 64). Both are pro-governmental parties. There are very few representatives of opposition parties in the electoral commissions: 8 out of 97 representatives of the Belarusian party of the left "Fair World' and only 3 out of 44 Belarusian Popular Front candidates have joined electoral commissions. Neither Unioted Civil Party representatives (there were 36 candidates) nor the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) members (8 candidates) have managed to get there, BelaPAN reports.
The local elections will be held in Belarus on March 23, 2014.
