Only 2% of sentences get abolished in Belarus (video)
Chairman of the Supreme Court Valyantsin Sukala has informed this.
He has told in an interview to the CTV TV-channel that about 2% of sentences are abolished by higher instance courts: "We considered 18 000 criminal cases in a half a year, and 390 sentences were abolished." According to Sukala, a mistake is an extraordinary situation for the judges.
The Chairman of the Supreme Court has also told that the court of jury has vague perspectives in Belarus in the near future. The very consideration of this issue is planned only in 2015 in the framework of several court reforms. "Maybe we will take this decision and maybe not," says Sukala.
