Opposition activist detained in Minsk
Valiantsina Palevikova, one of the leaders of the United Civil Party was on May 17 detained when leaving her apartment in Minsk.
Four plainclothes police agents took her to the Sovietski district polic station. According to Palevikova, she had been called by police the previous day and summoned to come to the police station for "a conversation about the April 26 opposition action". Palevikova was one of the organizers of the Chernobyl March.
She agreed to come to police on May 21, but apparently police could not wait. Yuras Ziankovich, another organizer of the opposition action on April 26, was also detained by police in Minsk, reports the press service of the United Civil Party.
