Opposition activist's car confiscated over defaulted fines
Court officers confiscated the car owned by Youth Front leader Zmicier Dashkevich as a penalty for allegedly unpaid fines awarded for unauthorized street actions.
Commenting to Euroradio, Zmicier Dashkevich said he had received no notice about confiscation of his vehicle. Unknown men arrived to his yard to seize his property without a prior notice. Dashkevich, a self-employed entrepreneur, learned about court officers' action from his neighbors.
When Dashkevich asked the men to present a warrant, no document was produced. When he got into the car and tried to drive away, the men blocked the road
The court officer who eventually confiscated the car valued the vehicle at BYN 12000 or approximately $6000.
