Opposition applies for Freedom Day march in Minsk
The representatives of democratic organizations have applied for the traditional March 25 action. The appeal sent to Minsk City Executive Committee has been signed by Alyaksei Yanukevich, Mikalai Statkevich, Anatol Lyabedzka, Vital Rymasheuski, Vyachaslau Siuchyk, Tatstsyana Mironava, Ryhor Kastusyou and Ales Lahvinets.
The action participants will gather near the Academy of Sciences from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. The organizers want to hold a 20-minute meeting before marching along Independence Avenue towards Yanka Kupala Park. Another meeting will start in the ark at 8 p.m.
The organizers are planning to publicly celebrate the 98th anniversary of the creation of the Belarusian People’s Republic and to discuss the problems of Belarus’ social and political life and the geopolitical situation in the region.
About 950 people are expected to take part in the celebration.
