Opposition to gather on September 7 after action on August 16
Minsk City Executive Committee has not allowed organizing the action that has to take place on August 16 – the traditional monthly Solidarity Day. Let us remind you that they were planning to gather near the Academy of Sciences and to walk towards October Square. Nevertheless, according to a BNF activist Victar Ivashkevich, the action will take place in any case. It will begin at 6 p.m. near the Academy of Sciences. Even if it is impossible to organize a procession, the organizers say that “a line of not indifferent people” is not forbidden by the law.
Let us remind you that the missing Belarusian politicians have been actively discussed by the Russian mass media lately. In particular, the topic was recalled in the notorious films “Godfather” and “Godfatehr-2”.
However, in Ivashkevich’s opinion, the Belarusian opposition should not be afraid of its demands being in harmony with Russia and supporting its imperial attempts this way:
Ivahskevich: "If the current situation is causing Russia to join the opposition’s demands to investigate the cases, - it is good. It means there is an opportunity to fulfill the demands. We have been waiting for it for more than 10 years, and the chances are increasing”.
According to the politician, the next street action will be held on September 7 – the day when a special session of the House of Representatives will take place. The date of the presidential election will probably be announced there.
