Opposition activist detained in Viciebsk for ‘blocking up the road’

Well-known oppositionist Barys Hamaida was detained in Vitsebsk at about 12 p.m. on March 14, vitebskspring.org reports.
An administrative report for ‘blocking up the road’ was written. Hamaida spent more than an hour at the police office.
He was distributing independent editions near the well-known ‘blue house’ in Vitsebsk (Lenin Street, 28), Hamaida said. Policemen approached him and demanded that he left the spot about 15 minutes after he had talked to a Vitsebsk journalist. The oppositionist refused to leave. He was detained for the violation of the law on mass actions.
A report about the violation of the rules of settlements improvement was written in the police. Hamaida was accused of ‘blocking up the road’. He is facing a fine of up to 127.5 roubles (5 base amounts). He has not signed the report.
Hamaida was detained because it was the eve of the Constitution Day, the policemen said.
