Pickets in support of Ukrainian pilot planned in Minsk and Mahiliou
The picket applicant expects them to be allowed to prove that the Belarusian authorities are peace keepers in the Ukraine conflict.
An activist of the United Civil Party, Mikalai Hladyshau has filed three applications for holding pickets in support of the Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savchenko. He wants to hold two pickets in Mahiliou, and the third one - in Minsk, near the Russian embassy.
The purpose of the pickets is to express support for the Ukrainian pilot and protest against her illegal detention and arrest. Mr Hladyshau wants to demand the immediate release of Nadezhda Savchenko, UCP website reports.
The activist believes that the Belarusian authorities cannot refuse to hold the pickets. He notes that Lukashenka has the image of a peacemaker in the Ukraine issue, so ban of the picket could spoil the image and show the insincerity of the Belarusian authorities.
