In pictures: Money on tarmac in Independence Avenue in Minsk
Motorists carried out a protest action against a new 'car tax' in Minsk's central street on Friday night.
Hundreds vehicles sounded their horns in Independece Square, while some few stopped and switched their emergency lights on in an attempt to block the traffic. Several people, both drivers and those making a video footage of the event, were detained by the police. Polcemen were also seen noting down the plate numbers of those taking part in the Stop Tax protest.
Euroradio reminds motorists protested against a new fee introduced by the government to be paid by every vehicle owner to be able to join the traffic effective from December 2014. Just like during similar protests in 2011, motorists were seen dropping banknotes in protest to government's plans.
