Police: No Russian march on May 9 in Minsk
Ivan Kubrakov, head of public safety at Minsk City Police Department, tells media there will be no marches by Russian fans on May 9 in Minsk.
"The police in Belarus will take all possible measures to prevent law violations. Everything is being tracked and monitored," Kubrakou is quoted by Interfax-West news agency as saying. He stressed no application for organizing a march of fans had been filed.
Russian ice hockey plans were reportedly keen to organize an action on Victory Day, May 9 when the world ice hockey championship kicks off in Minsk. Later, they said they only wanted to join the official events organized by the Belarusain authorities in Minsk to mark Victory Day.
