The police in Brest on 12 May raided the apartment of prominent video blogger and activist Siarhei Piatrukhin. Radio Liberty reports officers seized a laptop, a tablet, a phone and a photo camera. Piatrukhin describes it as pressure for his coverage of the protests against plans of the authorities and an investor to build a lead battery plant near Brest.
Piatrukhin was met by several agents and riot police officers when he came out to empty his waste bin. The police presented a search warrant signed by the prosecutor.
Yesterday, Siarhei Piatrukhin along with his fellow blogger Aliaksandr Kabanau were sentenced to a 1225 rubles ($600) fine for collecting signatures in favor of the dismissal of the Brest regional administration.
